02/11/13: TVK - a new subscription service

Recently browsing through various google pages and twitter feeds I came across a new monthly subscription box called The Vegan Kind.  It immediately caught my interest as vegan skincare was the first step I took in changing up my beauty routine.

[Image of TVK sample box is one used on the Vegan Kind w/site, the letters and writing are not]

The Vegan Kind will be delivered to your door for £10 a month (+2.95 P&P) and promises to have five to eight items inside.  Rather than a purely skincare and beauty subscription, this service is a lifestyle package and reminds me of some of the vegan American boxes I've drooled over in the past (ie Vegan Presence, Vegan Beauty Cuts...).
In each months offering you'll receive a mix of accessories, cleaning products, food, toiletries, household goods plus a vegan recipe card to collect.  The size of  the products isn't mentioned, but I imagine there will be a mix of full and sample sizes.  As yet, none of the first brands to be included have been revealed, so it's a leap into the unknown for anyone who signed up for  their first box, currently shipping out.

The only element that puts me off possibly signing up is that for a product to be included just has to be vegan.  And from my experience although a vegan product can be a great one, sometimes it's stuffed full of other things that I wouldn't necessarily want to use.  However, it's still pretty exciting to see more and more availability and focus on alternative goodies for people that otherwise might miss out on the fun of subscription boxes.

I narrowly missed out on ordering one for this first month because I was dithering about what might be in there, but will be scouting around for more information in the coming weeks to see whether to sign up for their second box.  I'm looking forward to hearing more about it from those who signed up!

Is TheVeganKind a service you're interested in - or are you boxed out?

  4. This is really interesting. I live in the US and haven't heard of those vegan subscription boxes you mentioned, but now I'm intrigued! And you have a very good point about how just because a product says it's "vegan" doesn't necessarily mean it has all great ingredients. Love this post thanks for sharing! :)

    1. Me too! I'm aware more and more that I don't stick to the same standards in terms of cleaning materials as I do with my skincare. x

    1. Hi Annie :) That's fab you're trying to go vegan. I'm a veggie that doesn't drink milk or eat eggs, but I just haven't been able to kick the cheese habit so far. Maybe there will be a few items in these boxes to help us both! x
