21/09/14: Vegan Cuts Mini Review #1

A few months ago I was kindly sent a Vegan Cuts beauty box to try out.  Unfortunately it got lost first time around and the second box arrived in the middle of packing up the house.  So instead of an unboxing, I thought I'd do some mini reviews on each product, now that I've tried them all out.

Lauren Brooke Lash-Strengthening Mineral Mascara
One of the excellent things about the Vegan Cuts box is that as a UK based blogger, I hadn't heard of any of the brands featured, so this Lauren Brooke Mascara was something completely new to me.  I didn't use it at first, but a few weeks after receiving it I managed to lose my regular mascara, so I switched to this.  The first few applications I found it a little runny and very easy to get all over my face, but as I've used it more it seems to have stiffened up a bit, and providing I get rid of enough excess before taking it near my eyelashes, it does quite well.  Their website is now advertising a new and more smudge resistant formula, but I don't know whether the  sample I received was of this or the old formula.   I like that it just defines my lashes and gives them a little extra.  But if you prefer volume, then this probably isn't for you.

I can't say it lengthens curls or does any particular magic trick, but it works well on a daily basis alongside my eyelash curlers, doesn't flake too much, and one application seems to be enough to take me through the day.   It's supposed to be lash-strengthening, but to be honest, I've never thought my lashes were in need of bulking up so this element is lost on me.  I wore this (one coat) for nine hours when I met up with some other green beauty beauties and this is how it looked at the end of the day (bear in mind I was already wearing a dark liner).  Pretty good, no?

Full size price?  RRP $18.50 - £11.00.  Repurchase?  Tempted, as I'm full-size free at the moment.  Plus Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques has a whole range of other interesting products, such as these creme eyeshadows.

What's your go-to mascara?

  1. Great review! I really like Lauren Brooke and I've been curious about the mascara :) If you do end up ordering, I recommend checking out their finishing powder + lip colors (Sangria is my fave!)
