18/10/14: Living Nature Illuminating Foundation

Living Nature is a brand from New Zealand that I've seen around on a few of my online natural beauty stops over the last year.  Founded in 1987 they're committed to using natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and if there are doubts about the safety of an ingredient they don't use it.  In their range they have several lines of face products which confused me a bit at first, but essentially there's seems to be a Foundation, an Illuminating Foundation, and a Tinted Moisturiser.  In July I was sent the Illuminating Foundation Soft Lights* (30ml RRP £29.50) in the lightest shade, Dawn Glow.  And does it glow?

Yes, yes it does.  Look at that shimmer.

Since receiving this, I have been using it most days as part of my foundation routine.  Although I'm happy with my current Dr Hauschka,  I'm always on the lookout for the perfect foundation/tinted moisturiser and although I don't think that this product is it, combined with my Dr Hauschka it provides good coverage with a soft glimmer that I'm happy with.  In terms of the shade, although it looks quite dark on my skin, it blends out quite well when mixed in with the DH.  On its own it does lean towards being a little dark for me but not to the degree that I would avoid it completely.

I started off by mixing it with the Dr H on a 1:1 basis but I've moved on now to using it over the DH in key areas - top of cheeks, forehead etc just to add a little extra to the plain coverage.  I have also tried the product alone, but I find that the glowing shimmer that is oh so lovely in little amounts works against me when used as an all over base; the little flecks (particles?  they're not discernable) gather in my big ol' pores.  However, if you're not someone who suffers from dry skin/large pores on the cheeks then this probably wouldn't be an issue!

One of my only problems is that the top of the bottle is as pictured - there is no lid and although it can be locked to prevent spills the opening stores the last bit of product used which then turns hard and comes out the next time you use it.  It's not a major issue but just one that irritates me slightly

Good for me?
I really like this product.  Although I can't use it alone (especially in the Autumn day time!) it is just such a handy little bottle for adding a bit of glow to your everyday look and I think it would be gorgeous as a highlighting bronzer on darker skins.  O!  I also like the ingredients - the manuka honey, manuka oil and tea tree all help me to feel confident that I'm not adding to any blemishes - and I definitely haven't noticed it causing any breakouts.  I've also still got about 2/3 of the bottle left after a few months use.  Excellent.

Good for you?
I would definitely recommend this item and I'm looking to try the tinted moisturiser next.  If you're all about the glow without the sparkle, then this is one to check out.  The mica used to create the shimmer looks like it's the same one used in the RMS Living Luminzer, so if you like spreading that about your face, you might like this too! :) You can find Living Nature Foundations as well as their other lip and skin care ranges on Botanical Brands and Naturisimo, and FeelUnique.

Have you tried anything from Living Nature before?  What else would you recommend?
Let me know down below :)

P.S Apologies for the weird greyness in the first picture - new camera issues!

  1. I think this is a really underrated product! I have the darker shade Evening Glow and can't stop using it lately as a subtle bronzer. The glow you get from this is just perfect....would definitely be interested in trying Day Glow too to compare.

    1. It does look very dark, but it definitely blends well. I wear 00 in the Dr Hauschka and this doesn't make me orange x

    1. Thanks for your comment! I really think that it would surprise you - I'm not tanned at all - if you look at my profile pic, that's pretty much the same colour that I am now. :) x
