14/12/14: Ten Minutes with... Elijah Choo

If you've read more than a few of my blog posts you'll probably have heard me mention Bodhi, now known as Bodhi & Birch.  They're an eco-luxury range created by the wonderful Mr Elijah Choo.  Since I first tried his Desert Rose Face Oil, kindly sent to me by Ana via a giveaway, I've been addicted to that sleek packaging and the amazing scents contained within.  So, when I was thinking of people that I wanted to include in this series, Elijah was a no-brainer!

Last thing you do at night?
That depends on where I am. If at home, it would be a goodnight kiss for my Chocolate Labrador. Otherwise, it'll most likely involve forcing myself to put away my phone.

Top tip for being happy and healthy?
Take life easy. We get so caught up in modern life, juggle numerous activities and worrying about perfection in every aspect that we forget to take it easy. Don't get me wrong; always aim to be the best you can be and do your best, but make sure you allow yourself to unwind and de-stress after.

Brands/bloggers/people that inspire you?

There are a lot of people who inspire me for different reasons and at different times. After been through the challenges of launching my own brand, I have the utmost respect and admiration for anyone going at it on their own to realise their vision. The bloggers I adore are those with an unwavering spirit and empathetic integrity for their readers. If I am to name one person that inspires (and challenges) me, it would be my OH x

Favourite TV series?
I tend not to follow a series but I am prone to dip in and out of The Big Bang Theory. Favourite TV viewing is usually centred around wildlife, archaeology, anthropology and travel documentaries.

A product you wish you'd invented?
I have created the product(s) I wish I had “invented”! If I may, I'd rather choose a product I'd like to create one day, soon – a Bodhi & Birch fragrance.

Favourite skincare item?
Oooh, tough one! Before Bodhi & Birch it was Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Serum. Now, my all time favourite skincare is Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil and my current favourite is Rosa Rosa Clarifying Cleanser.

Favourite cosmetic item?
Umm... pass?

Your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. And I don't mean the occasional truffle or chocolate bar. For it to be seriously guilty, I'm talking the entire box, or by the truckload.

Favourite book?
Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry. It may be a children’s book but it speaks volumes about life and the human condition. Alternatively, the thesaurus.

Which product of yours would you recommend to anyone that hasn’t tried your range before?
Rosemary Chi Himalayan Detox Salt Scrub. And I don't mean a quick body scrub and rinse in 2 minutes but a proper “lock the bathroom door and slowly buff away the stress followed by a detox soak” hour long me-time session. Your body, skin and senses will thank you for it.

Why did you start your blog/brand/store?
Bodhi & Birch was created to offer high-performance luxury skincare with eco-credentials. I suffered from severely dry skin about eight years ago and came to the conclusion that Sodium Laureth Sulphate was the cause. The switch to natural skincare was good for my skin but (at that time) most lacked sophisticated fragrances or the right texture and experience. It was this vision to create an eco-luxe skincare brand that prompted the start of Bodhi & Birch.

Proudest/most exciting moment in your blog/brand/store career?
There are many to mention, most involving feedback from customers telling us our products changed their skin health and wellbeing. These moments make us very proud of what we do.

Let me know down below - do you share Elijah's love for chocolate by the truckload?
Which fragrance would you most like to see made by Bodhi & Birch?

Thank you Elijah for taking part!

And finally, because Desert Rose is such a staple in my routine (and also Elijah's all time favourite!), I wanted to share the love with one of you as well.  I have 1 x travel size Desert Rose facial oil and 1 x travel size Neroli Luce facial oil available for one of you to win.  I was tempted to purchase a full size Desert Rose to giveaway, but I know there are lots of people who find that the Neroli Luce works better for their skin - so this way you can find out which one suits you best!  Both are 5ml, so should last you a good amount of time.  The 15ml full sizes last me at least four months.

And the best part is, because of the super concentrated formula and cute travel sizes I'm able to open this giveaway up internationally!  So if you're an international lady (or gent) sick to the back teeth of UK bloggers banging on about Bodhi & Birch, here's your chance to get in on the action.  And I apologise in advance to the winner, because you will love them.  :P
