10/05/15: Silk Naturals Chromatic Cream Eyeshadows

Silk Naturals is an amazing American site.  Filled with simple products at brilliant prices (even with conversion from $ to £ and shipping costs factored in!), I've spent more time than I care to admit browsing their wares.

One of the products that has left a lasting impression is their range of Chromatic Cream eyeshadows.  I originally picked up Marvel early last year on a bit of a whim as I thought it might go someway to replacing my much mourned No7 Wheatsheaf eyeshadow - but as soon as I realised what little gems these are I quickly restocked and picked up Astoria and Penthouse as well.

[L-R: Astora, Marvel, Penthouse]

They go on as a liquid using a doe applicator (rather than a cream as the name suggests) but dry very quickly.  I have found that application can be a little bit patchy with Marvel, but I think this is in part to the shimmery chromatic element and the less than flat surface area of the eyelid which can make it look like you've missed a spot.  However, it's easily rectified by waiting a few minutes for it to dry and adding a little extra on top.

There are sixteen to choose from and I now have my eye on the black matte (supposedly perfect for liner) and a few more of the nude/natural/gold shades.  I'm impressed by the quality for the price and the lasting colour that they provide.  Marvel is still one of the best neutral/golds that I've found that doesn't lean too heavily into pink (not my friend)

Good for me?

These are a complete staple in my make up bag as they're so quick and easy to apply.  I do love powder shadows but as a permanently-running-behind-time kinda person, these are a perfect addition to my handbag.  .

Good for you?
If you haven't tried Silk Naturals yet and don't know where to start - seriously, there's a bunch of stuff on their site - then I highly recommend giving one of  these a go.  he labels get a little scruffy but at £3.23 ($4.99) I'm not personally fussed.  And if you don't like it, I'll happily take it off your hands! :P

What do you think - would you give them a go?

  1. I've seen really mixed reviews on these, but you're making me want to try them now! Marvel looks super pretty :)

  2. Ooh do they last? Being liquid I guess they'd last more than "cream"?

  3. Want. Need. Will have to buy after swatching yours ;) X

  4. I've been tempted to pick them up before but heard quite a few reviews about it being patchy. Anyhow, I feel like the finish is too shiny-chromey for my liking - is that how they look on the lids?

  5. Ohhh that's interesting - honestly, I didn't look at reviews before purchasing! They could be better but for the price I'm very happy xx

  6. Hey Amber - posted on Instagram - but they seem to last quite well on me. They're never going to stick all day but I find they are still noticeable after 5+ hours wear :) x

  7. Haha! Speaking of - which lip stain did you buy? I'm putting together an order... :D x

  8. They can be patchy but I think two layers sorts that out. The finish looks a bit different on the eyes - although they aren't matte they don't look like discoballs - I will take some photos this weekend and add them for you :) xx

  9. Oh gosh, that's not good re Malin! I wonder what the ingredient was?? Sorry to hear that they didn't work for you :( xx

  10. They look gorgeous! I'm a massive fan of the lipsticks but am yet to try these :)

That bronze looks gorgeous! It looks like RMS in Magnetic. Do you use a primer? xx

  12. They're pretty good for the price! Let me know if you pick one up! x

  13. I don't, no. It is similar - I think it leans more to the bronze than the brown that Magnetic turns to on my eyes! x
